Privacy Policy

Rockford Bank and Trust Company is committed to safeguarding your personal information. We respect your need for privacy and wish to assure you that your personal information will only be used within our strict guidelines.

Use, Collection, and Retention of Information
In order to provide you with financial products and services, we collect nonpublic personal information from the following sources:

  • Applications, account opening documentation or other forms, and other information that you provide us, whether in writing, in person, by telephone, electronically, or by any other means. This information may include your name, address, employment history, income, and credit references;
  • Your transactions and communications with us, our affiliates, or others such as account balances, payment history, overdraft history, and credit card usage;
  • Consumer reporting agencies, such as creditworthiness and credit history; and
  • As required for special services, such as bill payment.

This information is only used to provide products, services, and other opportunities to you.

Release of Information
We do not disclose nonpublic information about you except as permitted by law.

Security Procedures to Protect Information
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need the information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.

Exception for Joint Marketing and Service Providers
Rockford Bank and Trust Company works with a variety of third parties to bring you financial services. We disclose information about you as necessary to fulfill these third party service agreements. For example, we may disclose information about you to third parties that assist us in servicing or maintaining your loan or deposit account or other business relationship, such as printing checks or billing you for loan payments.

In addition, in an effort to provide comprehensive financial services, Rockford Bank and Trust Company may disclose information related to our experiences or transactions with you with third parties that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions, such as investment services providers, with whom we have joint marketing agreements. Examples of information that we are permitted to share are customer lists, account balances, and payment histories. These third parties must agree to strict confidentiality provisions to assure the protection of your information. Because we already limit the sharing of your nonpublic personal information as outlined above, no action is necessary on your part to limit such sharing.

Affiliate Sharing
We are permitted to share information with our affiliates, such as the sister banks of Rockford Bank and Trust Company and our non-bank affiliates to better enable us to service your accounts. The affiliate companies provide financial services, such as investment advisory services, banking and mortgage services. This information may include all of the types listed above except for information on applications and information provided by consumer reporting agencies. We do not share information with our affiliates for marketing purposes.

Other Exceptions
Other examples of disclosure of customer information outside of Rockford Bank and Trust Company are as follows:

  • Consumer reporting agencies.
  • For fraud, security, or risk control.
  • To help complete a transaction you initiate, including information requested to verify the existence or condition of an account.
  • To resolve disputes or inquiries you may have about your accounts.
  • With your consent or at your direction.
  • When disclosure is required by law, such as pursuant to court order, subpoena, legal process or government agency examination or investigation, or to protect or enforce our rights.

How You Can Help Protect Your Privacy
You can take the following steps to help ensure your financial privacy:

  • Do not share your account information, passwords, user ID’s, PINs, code words or other confidential information with others.
  • Do not provide confidential information by telephone to unknown callers.
  • Do not provide confidential information online unless you initiated the contact, know the party with whom you are dealing, and provide the information through a secure channel.
  • When conducting business over the Internet, always use a secure browser and exit online applications as soon as you finish using them.
  • Protect and properly dispose of your account records.

Correcting Errors in Information We Share with Consumer Reporting Agencies
If you believe any of the information we share with a consumer reporting agency is in error, please let us know. Write to us at Rockford Bank and Trust Company, 127 Wyman Street, Rockford, IL 61101. Please provide us with your complete name, current address, phone number, and social security number. You will also need to include your account number, type of account, and the specific item in dispute. You must tell us the reason you believe this information has been reported in error.

Important Information about Procedures for Opening a New Account
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. When you open an account, we will ask you for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.

Our Former Customers
Upon the termination of the customer/bank relationship, customer account and liability information is retained only as long as required by state and federal regulatory agencies. This information is held in confidence and subject to this policy.

Other Information
This privacy policy applies to products or services provided by Rockford Bank and Trust Company. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy and any of the policies described above.
